Raine Square is a unique 44,000 sqm office and 13,000 sqm retail project in the heart of Perth’s CBD, incorporating two existing hotels and heritage facades, as well as providing a direct underground link to Perth’s Metrorail station on William Street, servicing the northern and southern suburbs.
Raine Square will be the new home to one of Europe’s largest financial institution’s Australian arm HBOS’s Bankwest, with a projected 3,500 people working over the twenty one levels. The office building will also target a 4.5 Star AGBR rating, and include advanced backup power systems to maintain power to the security, airconditioning, lift and tenants in the event of a blackout.
The development will also include three levels of retail, with a 500 seat food hall and supermarket as well as over 53 speciality retailers, access from the Developments three major entrances on Wellington, William and Murray streets, and also underground tunnel link to the new William Street Station. Raine Square also boasts 379 car bays over three basement levels, making public access to the development much easier.
The development commenced construction in 2006 with an estimated completion date of December 2009 and an end value of $550 million.

Cevue Apartments

The Prestigious CeVue Apartment Development located by the ocean at Scarborough Beach offers seafront apartments in a 2, 3 or 4 bedroom configuration. The apartments boast luxury finishings throughout including state of the art Variable Refrigerant Flow Multiple Head Air Conditioning systems. These systems offer fingertip control throughout the conditioned areas and ensure that each resident can maintain the environment they desire.
In addition to the residential component the complex includes a signature fine dining restaurant, several in-house eateries and retail space, all serviced by modern Air Conditioning and Ventilation systems custom designed and installed to guarantee perfect conditions for the complexes residents and retail patrons.
The Mechanical Services Outcomes provide optimum indoor conditions while minimising energy consumption and environmental impact.

Rockingham Shopping Centre

Rockingham Shopping Centre is a major retail facility located approximately 50km south of Perth. In 2008 MPM was appointed as the mechanical contractor to complete the A$15 million mechanical services upgrade and installation. The project comprised of an upgrade to the existing mall and K-mart facilities and supply and installation of new mechanical services to major mall and specialty shop extensions.
The mall and K-mart mechanical services works consisted of the construction of seven large, 300kW +, refrigerated variable air volume air handling units complete with economy cycles and variable capacity compressors. Specialty shops were served via a combination of the aforementioned and self contained proprietary packaged DX units. The entire installation is controlled via a Honeywell BMS optimised for energy efficiency.
The centre remained operational for the duration of the works with all retailers continuing to trade with the general public. Complex logistical solutions were required to ensure the timely, quality installation of the mechanical services whilst simultaneously maintaining the mercantile objectives of the end client.

ONE30 Stirling Street

ONE30 Stirling Street incorporates four floors of commercial office space, four levels of car parking (500 carbays) and three ground floor retail tenancies.
This modern ‘A’ grade office building is designed to meet 4.5-star ABGR and 4 Green Star performance criteria.
The following energy efficient mechanical service systems have been incorporated.
Central Plant
Central water cooled chiller plant at roof level comprising of two water cooled centrifugal chillers with a nominated capacity of 700KW each, operating on R134A refrigerant. The chillers incorporate oil free centrifugal compressors with magnetic bearing which provide the highest efficiencies of any commercially available chiller at this capacity.
Air Handling Units
A floor by floor air handling arrangement has been installed to provide primary air to the active chilled beams. This way, tenants with differing operating hours and profiles are able to switch AHU’s to their floor without having to turn on systems to the entire building.
Active Chilled Beams
This systems incorporates active chilled beams which cool a zone by local ceiling mounted cooling coils or ‘chilled beam’ and is connected to the chilled water loop. The system reticulates chilled water around the ceiling space to each chilled beam rather than pushing air around in ductwork which implies the system requires less ceiling space than a conventional VAV system.

Westralia Plaza

Westralia Plaza is a 13 storey office building located at 167 St. George’s Terrace in Perth central business district. The building is designed to achieve a 4 star GreenStar rating.
The building is conditioned via a variable air volume chilled and heating water system with full economy cycle.
Cooling is provided via two roof mounted water cooled PowerPax chillers connected to two high efficiency cooling towers.
Heating is provided via two roof mounted gas fired boilers.
A tenant condenser water loop is installed for future tenant supplementary air conditioning.
The two level basement car park is mechanically ventilated via a ducted system. MPM completed the works in July 2010.

Rio Tinto Operations Centre

The centre comprises of a 4000 metre square operations floor, two 600 metre square data centres, IT facility, meeting and conference facilities.
As a critical operation facility the mechanical services have been duplicated for the Data Centres, UPS Rooms and Operations Floor. The building is served via two 1MW water cooled centrifugal chiller and two 360kW air cooled screw chillers. The operations floor is served via two AHU’s delivery conditioned air via a floor displacement system.
The data centres and UPS rooms are conditioned via duty standby chilled water close control computer room air conditioning units. Offices and meeting rooms are served via VAV chilled and heating water system.

Peppermint Grove Library

Peppermint Grove Library is Western Australia’s first public building to incorporate Environmentally Sustainable Design.
Comprising of Council Offices and Chambers, Community Facility and Library, the building utilizes the very latest in innovative mechanical services design to air condition and ventilate the building. All refrigerated air conditioning systems are water cooled via a bore water system.
Bore water is sourced from a depth of 23 metres and circulated through a plate heat exchanger and returned to the water table via an injection spear at the same depth.
The library is conditioned via a combination of natural ventilation and a custom build DX air handling unit.
The community centre and council offices are served via a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system, water cooled via the bore water system.
The building is controlled via a building management system which constantly adjusts the mechanical services system in conjunction with external conditions to maximize energy savings.
In addition to the mechanical services the BMS also controls the waste water and irrigation systems.

Gateway Commercial Centre

Gateway Commercial Centre is located overlooking the causeway in Victoria Park. Gateway Commercial is a two tower office and retail building constructed to achieve a 4 star GreenStar rating and 4.5 NABERS rating.
The development comprises of over 12000 square metres of conditioned office space. The building is conditioned via a variable air volume chilled and heating water system with full economy cycle via air handling units located on each floor.
Cooling is provided via two roof mounted water cooled PowerPax chillers connected to two high efficiency cooling towers. Heating is provided via two roof mounted gas fired boilers.
A tenant condenser water loop is installed for future tenant supplementary air conditioning. The building has a two level mechanically ventilated car park.

Burswood Tower 4

The Burswood Tower 4 complex comprises of both luxury apartments from levels 1 to 19 and upper floor penthouse suites, encompassing the rooftop levels 20 and 21, as secure basement level car parking facility has been provided with all the usual quality apartment amenities such as entry, lobby, swimming pool and gymnasium.
The air conditioning systems major plant is located between levels 20 & 21 including two off forced draft cooling towers and one off forced interconnected via copper pipework to the primary side of their respective heat exchangers.
From the secondary side of the heat exchangers the cooled / heated water is piped to a combined common high level collection header then reticulated via two off condenser water pumps down the building, providing the condenser water to each of the complex’s / apartments water cooled package reverse cycle air conditioning units (PAC units)
Each PAC unit includes its own rotary refrigeration compressor and evaporator coil interconnected to a tube in tube condenser water heat exchanger providing the required heat rejection unit.

KEMH - Neo Natal Ward

The KEMH project was installed and commissioned by Mechanical Project Management during 2010 – 2011.
The project consisted of the refurbishment to the existing wards on both levels 3 and 4, mechanical VAV systems. The associated diffusion and controls were relocated to suit the new layout.
In addition to the refurbishment an extension to L3 and L4 was built, with a new separate VAV heating and cooling system.

A specialist installation has been installed to provide comfort and safety to clientele and staff alike whilst catering for clients wishing to smoke.
The system is fully interfaced with Honeywell BMS system

The apartment complex which was installed and commissioned by Mechanical Project Management in 2010 comprises of luxury apartments, starting from single apartments in the basement level followed by combined twin level apartments on levels 1 & 2, single level apartments from Levels 3 to 12, finishing with combined twin level luxury penthouse suites on levels 13 & 14.
The air conditioning systems major plant is located on Level 14 including two off forced draft cooling towers and one off forced draft heating hot water boiler, all complete with circulating pumps interconnected via copper pipework to the primary side of their respective heat exchangers.
Form the secondary side of the heat exchangers the cooled / heated water is connected to a combined common high level collection header then reticulated via two off condenser water circulating pumps down the apartment building providing the condenser water to each of the complex’s / apartments water cooled package reverse cycle air conditioning units (PAC units).

UWA - Centre for Infectious Diseases

The University of Western Australia’s (UWA) Centre for Infectious Diseases at the Queen Elizabeth 11 medical centre was designed for the conduct of research of infectious diseases and the development of associated vaccines.
The facility includes four PC2 laboratories, medical offices, chemical storage facilities and administrative areas.
The mechanical services comprised of four large air handling units, laboratory ventilation systems, general ventilation systems, HEPA filtration, reticulated steam and carbon dioxide, chemical storage and extraction systems.
The installation was integrated with the existing TAC (Schneider) building management system.

WA Country Health Services

Mechanical Project Management was engaged in July 2006 to install and commission the ground floor mechanical services for WA Country Health Services - B Block, located at 189 Wellington Street, Perth.
A new chilled water air handling unit was connected to the existing chilled water system, with air being delivered to the tenanted space via VAV terminals.
Three exhaust systems serving the toilets, tea preparation and photo copy areas have also been installed.
The installation is monitored and controlled by a Honeywell building management system.
